I often ask myself: What is truth? Every person has their own truth. And the more I reflect on it, the clearer it becomes that my truth is shaped by my worldview. By my family. My friends. My experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All of these are lived truths. Today, however, more and more media information mixes into my consciousness as so-called experiences. Images. Headlines. Narratives. They feel like lived experience \u2014 but they are not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I look at\u00a0Klaudia. Klaudia answers calmly: \u201cIt is important that you turn inward again to sense your truth.
That is a process of cleansing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I nod. \u201cBut that process requires silence. And time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then\u00a0Klaus\u00a0intervenes. \u201cLies are part of our craft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I look at him. \u201cWhat do you mean by that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Klaus remains calm: \u201cIt\u2019s not about publishing\u00a0your<\/em>\u00a0truth. It\u2019s about presenting events in a way that appears right and necessary to the population.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo,\u201d I say slowly, \u201cyou decide what is allowed to be true.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaus corrects me: \u201cWe decide what stabilizes. Truth is unstable. Security is not.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I feel resistance rising within me. \u201cAnd ethics?\u201d I ask. \u201cWhere is responsibility toward the human being?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaus leans back: \u201cEthics is a luxury systems can only afford when they are stable. In times of crisis, effect matters \u2014 not truthfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaudia shakes her head slightly: \u201cBut that\u2019s exactly where alienation begins. When people are no longer allowed to feel what is true for them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaus looks at her: \u201cPeople want security. Not truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I take a deep breath. \u201cMaybe they want security,\u201d I say. \u201cBut they lose themselves when they give up their inner voice for it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaus replies without hesitation: \u201cInner voices are unpredictable. Systems need predictability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n I sense the tension tightening. \u201cThen tell me,\u201d I ask, \u201cwhat remains of the human being when truth becomes a variable?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaus is silent for a moment. Then he says: \u201cA functioning member of society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Klaudia responds softly, but clearly: \u201cOr an inwardly empty person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I sense that this is no longer about arguments. But about two fundamentally different images of what it means to be human. \u201cWhen security becomes more important than truth,\u201d I say, \u201cwe may lose our footing.
